This vibrant programme features beautiful harmonies from this four-part choir consisting of sopranos, altos, tenors and basses. The ensemble is Queenstown’s best known choral group which attracts a large and loyal following. All but one of the singers are from the Queenstown region with one as far afield as Omakau in Central Otago. The singers show case some of the amazing talent in our region. The programme includes a mixed genre of classical to modern composed choir music.

Choral Director Sue Patterson is a well-known Queenstown-based singer and singing teacher who pulls together a eclectic programme of music to suit all music tastes. Jeanette Robertson accompanies most pieces and items but also works behind the scenes as rehearsal accompanist.

The choir is most looking forward to the Flight Song by Arneson which really stirs the emotions. There are a couple of firsts with the Tolkien piece which has never been performed by a New Zealand choir and we perform the debut of the Drummond version of God Defend New Zealand, a beautiful rendition.”

Choir members and guest performers will be singing music from shows and classical items including Rachael Gerard known for her musical theatre roles with Showbiz Queenstown. Soprano Sally Geddes performs solos and joins Soprano Sue Patterson in two duets. New Queenstowner Nigel Chin brings his experience of stage and show in two songs, and Natasha Matla, a Queenstown teacher plays clarinet duets with well-known pianist Kana Takahashi. The versatile Alan Pickard sings jazz and reads his own poetry. A special combination of Cheryl Collie and Masa Nakazawa come together just for this concert to perform piano duets.
