Arrowtown is 15 minutes’ drive from Queenstown International Airport. Major rental car firms have bases at the airport.
BY ROAD from Queenstown
There are two routes of similar distance (about 20 minutes).
Route 1, The Scenic Route, exits Queenstown from Shotover Street, along Gorge Road. It passes through picturesque valleys and farmland under Coronet Peak, and the Millbrook Resort.
Route 2. From Queenstown towards the airport but at the Frankton Junction roundabout go straight ahead towards Cromwell along SH 6. After approx 10 minutes go left to Arrowtown at Lake Hayes – it’s well signposted.
BY ROAD from Wanaka
A stunning 50 minute drive from Wanaka, past the Cardona pub, and over the Crown Range road, with must-stop views down towards Arrowtown and Queenstown. At the bottom of the range, turn right towards (Queenstown on SH6), and take the Arrowtown turn soon afterwards.
BY ROAD – from Christchurch, Dunedin, and Cromwell.
Arrowtown is 40 minutes’ drive past Cromwell – along SH 6 through the spectacular Kawarau Gorge, towards Queenstown. Turn right towards Arrowtown which are at the signposts five minutes past the bungy jump bridge.
BY BUS
The Orbus service from Queenstown and Frankton is $2 with an Orbus Go Card. Take the blue Arthurs Point to Arrowtown Route which stops in Queenstown and in the Frankton Hub before heading to Arrowtown.
