Arrowtown will be buzzing this Labour Weekend, with a clutch of events as the cherry on top of the history and nature that draw visitors every day of the year.
The centrepiece of the holiday weekend is Jazz in the Park on Sunday 27 October. From 11.30am to 4pm local musicians, including the acclaimed Queenstown Jazz Orchestra, will perform at Buckingham Green. Bring a picnic, buy a drink from Bendix Stables and settle in for the afternoon. Be sure to get there early on – this wonderful free community event is limited to 200 people!
In a nice bit of synergy, Sunday also is the opening day of the weekly Arrowtown Farmers Market for the summer. Head down to the market outside the library from 10am to 2pm to find 25 stalls offering super-fresh locally grown produce, gourmet food, bread still warm from the oven and street food. It’s the perfect place to make up your picnic for Jazz in the Park!
Labour Weekend is the final opportunity to see Arrowtown in Bloom, where the shopfronts of Buckingham Street are festooned with more than 20 gorgeous floral art installations. It’s also your last chance to get in touch with your creative side at the Spring Arts Festival, with a photography walk on Saturday 26 October.
