Arrowtown's inaugural Long Lunch brought 250 diners to the historic main street to enjoy the fine and relaxed dining on a beautiful summer day.

The Arrowtown Long Lunch featured in the Christmas in Arrowtown promotion to encourage locals and visitors to enjoy the dining, shopping and activities Arrowtown has to offer.

Organiser, Malcolm Blakely said, " Everyone seemed to enjoy it and it was great to walk up and down the street to see all that great food and smiling faces.

"One of the main purposes of the event was to help promote Arrowtown, and it brilliant to see that the Southland Times (front page!) and the Otago Daily Times both reported on the event yesterday.  Every time we get the word 'Arrowtown' in print we are reminding people to come and visit our town to shop and eat!"

Saturday's Christmas In Arrowtown Family Day drew hundreds to the town's Buckingham Green to start the countdown to Christmas. It was a big success with about 400 people in the audience over the 6 hours of entertainment.

Fairies and elves competed for prizes to become Santa's helper, complete with faces painted and cherubic smiles.

Carols rang across the green as many locals and visitors enjoyed the charm of Arrowtown at Christmas.

Local businesses provided prizes and the co-ordination of the Fun Day. Arrowtown's iconic Buckingham Belles and Miner's Band entertained the adults on the green while bouncy castle rides and Santa's arrival kept children enthralled.

Christmas trees and decorations grace many shops during the festive time as Arrowtown promotes itself for the month of December as a half day or full day visit.

A huge thanks to all who helped with our Saturday's Christmas in Arrowtown Family Fun Day: those who provided prizes, time and talents in contributing to such an enjoyable event with a truly community flavour.
