4WD Scenic Adventure Tours and Camping Adventures - Southern Explorer
Join an experienced local guide on a 4WD scenic tour into the wild back country areas of Skippers Canyon, Macetown, Arrowtown or Glenorchy. Travel along roads carved from steep hillsides by hand in the 1880’s, over canyons, up rivers and beside mountain lakes to discover the history and majestic beauty of these once busy gold rush areas. Duration of scenic tours aprox 4 hours.

Winter departure times 10am.

ARROWTOWN DISCOVERY TOUR: Come with us on a 4WD scenic adventure up the Arrow River. Have a go at gold panning, visit Arrowtown’s Lord of the Rings filming locations and be entertained by the local history. Finish with spectacular views from the Crown Range over the Arrow Basin.

MACETOWN OVERNIGHT CAMPING ADVENTURE
Take the opportunity to sleep overnight at the ruins of historic of Macetown. The journey takes us along the historic Macetown Road, where we take in the rugged landscape and when in season pick wild fruits to compliment our evening meal. After driving through the Arrow River 26 times we arrive at our camp site. Experience what it must have been like for the first settlers, sleeping in tents and dinning in the open air. But don't be concerned, this area is not full of ghosts, but renowned for the glory days of lucky gold strikes and festivities. Please ask about options to walk or mountain bike back to Arrowtown.
