Perfect for beginners, youth and entire families, the north-facing slopes of The Remarkables are home to versatile terrain, fantastic learning facilities and fun for all ages.
Known for its friendly, relaxed atmosphere, The Remarkables is perfect for beginners, novices, youth and entire families.
Just 45 minutes from Queenstown, the Remarks’ high altitude and north-facing slopes provide versatile terrain across three natural bowls. Expansive beginner areas, a tubing park, three terrain parks, off-piste chutes and big mountain terrain add up to winter fun for all ages.
Sheltered by towering peaks, the base building is home to all facilities including a newly expanded cafe and large sun deck, both of which are perfect for enjoying refreshments, observing children on adjacent learners’ slopes or just people-watching.
First timers have fantastic fun at their own pace on gentle slopes equipped with three surface conveyor lifts. Once comfortable and up-skilled, it’s an easy graduation for them to the intermediate trails and beginner terrain park of Alta Blue – complete with fun features such as a Cork Screw and small jumps aimed at gentle progression.
Children have a ball thanks to a range of programmes suited to all ages and abilities. The fully licensed Skiwiland Early Learning Centre accommodates children aged between three months and five years. From Skiwiland they graduate to a variety of ski and ride programmes suited to ages and abilities up to 15 years. Children aged ten and under get free day lift passes every day of the season.
The Remarkables is also favoured by advanced freeskiers and riders who come for the superb terrain parks and the lift-serviced back country style runs and chutes. There is a world-class advanced terrain park and the Southern Hemisphere’s only Stash, a revolutionary Burton signature terrain park plus sensational terrain for big mountain skiers and riders who love the thrill of fresh tracks and deep powder. A dedicated park team, advanced snowmaking systems and a fleet of Pisten Bully snow groomers work to keep terrain consistently shaped and groomed to a high quality.
The longest run at The Remarkables is the 1.5 km Homeward Run, which has a vertical drop of 350 metres and is widely considered New Zealand’s best backcountry in-bounds ski experience.
2010 promises an exciting line up of snowboard and freestyle events in the parks including the The Remarkables Slopestyle Series and the Parklife Youth Mini Shred – both extremely popular events for freestylers of all ages.
Known as ‘the friendly mountain’, The Remarkables has a relaxed atmosphere, often with tunes in the parks, live bands and DJs on the sunny deck and a regular BBQ.
Regular shuttles on the Green NZSki Snowline makes access to The Remarkables a breeze, free of charge from the Snow Centre for all those who buy a Remarkables lift pass or combo pack.
And new automatically scanned lift passes make access to The Remarkables quicker and easier than ever before.
The Remarkables is scheduled to open on 19 June.
