New Zealand is home to the Southern Alps, a magnificent mountain range forming the back bone of the South Island. It is at the edge of this winter wonderland that Coronet Peak lies.
Over 60 years of passion for snowsports and a commitment to quality have created a much loved ski area at Coronet Peak, whilst a multi-million dollar makeover in recent years has elevated this mountain to true international status.
Just 20 minutes drive from Arrowtown, Coronet Peak’s stunning base building provides sophisticated facilities and magnificent views of the Wakatipu Basin and beyond. The café, restaurant and bar areas sport floor to ceiling views and open to a massive deck, ideal for relaxing, watching the action and enjoying regular live entertainment.
The country’s largest fully automated snow-making system helps Mother Nature provide consistently good skiing and riding from early June until the end of September.
Coronet Peak is renowned for its rolling terrain providing exhilarating skiing and riding for all levels. A range of programmes and facilities including a fully licensed crèche and all day children’s programmes, offer fun and progression for everyone over the age of three months.
New for 2010 is a high-speed quad chairlift replacing the Meadows double chairlift, armed with unique safety features and a moving carpet loading system for Coronet Peak’s dedicated novice and beginner area. Those utilising the learner slopes this year will also enjoy extended terrain that includes a new beginners trail.
The day starts early on the mountain with First Tracks from 8am and on weekends finishes late with Night Skiing on Fridays and Saturdays until 9pm.
And new radio frequency lift passes make access to Coronet Peak quicker and easier than ever before. Coronet Peak is scheduled to open on Saturday 5 June.
