Furneaux Cottage is the perfect retreat in summer or winter. It is a large original miner’s cottage located within the Historic Zone of Arrowtown - only two minutes’ walk from the main street with stunning views up the Arrow Valley.
Perfectly positioned for enjoying Arrowtown’s sophisticated attractions, Furneaux Cottage is only moments away from ski fields, vineyards, golf-courses, rivers, lakes, biking & walking tracks, cafes, and delightful shops. It is also only twenty minutes drive to the buzz of Queenstown.
Enjoy the cosy wood-burner on a winter's evening after an exhilarating days skiing at one of the three local ski areas. In the summer sit in the sun and admire the stunning view up the Arrow Valley from the sheltered back garden. Cycle or stroll two minutes down the road into the village and sample the local wines. Cool down by taking a swim up the Arrow River, in Lake Hayes or at the local pool.
Furneaux Cottage offers three beautifully presented bedrooms and bathrooms – the master bedroom with king bed and full ensuite, a queen bedroom with ensuite, and a twin bedroom with two king single beds with a full bathroom (bath and shower) next door. There is enough room to sleep six people so it is ideal for a group of friends or a family with children. Every comfort and luxury has been considered, with crisp cotton sheets, fluffy towels, and a wonderful wood-burner, heat-pump and electric blankets to keep you warm all night in the winter.
The stainless steel eat-in chef’s kitchen leads on to a cosy library. The spacious open plan living and dining area has french doors opening to a sunny, sheltered garden with uninterrupted views of the Arrow Valley. There are large tables for both indoor and al fresco dining.
Furnaeux Cottage was originally owned by miner Furneaux Smith (1839-1913) and is one of Arrowtown's protected historic cottages, located within the historic zone.
